M2 Chip
The new MacBook Air (2022) is the first to feature Apple’s second-generation M2 chip, marking a significant upgrade in performance and efficiency. Like its predecessor, the M1, the M2 chip is built on a unified memory architecture optimized for power efficiency. Manufactured on a second-generation 5nm process, the M2 packs 20 billion transistors.
The M2 chip features eight CPU cores, consisting of upgraded performance and efficiency cores, paired with a next-gen GPU that now supports up to 10 cores. It offers up to 24GB of unified memory with a bandwidth of 100GB/s and supports SSD configurations up to 2TB.
Compared to the M1, the M2 delivers an 18% boost in CPU performance and a 35% improvement in GPU capabilities. Thanks to new media and ProRes video engines, the M2 excels at handling 4K and 8K video content.
New Design
The 2022 MacBook Air moves away from the classic wedge design, adopting a flatter, MacBook Pro-inspired look. Its lightweight metal unibody, crafted from recycled aluminum, measures just 11.3mm in thickness and weighs approximately 1.25 kg.

Larger Display
